STEARIC ACID

Stearic Acid, also known as octadecanoic acid is one of the many useful types of saturated fatty acids. It's name originated from the Greek word, stear, which means tallow. Stearic Acids are used in almost all sectors of industry, coming in a wide variety of grades from vegetable and animal fats or oils. It is prepared by treating animal fat with water at a high pressure and temperature or obtained from the hydrogenation of vegetable oils. Stearic Acid is a waxy solid used as an ingredient in soaps, candles, cosmetics and to soften rubber. It's chemical formula is CH 3(CH 2) 16COOH.

Celeritas can assist you with your stearic acid needs in oil drilling industry, cosmetics, pharmaceutical industry and in other areas. Here is a chart to help you determine your industry based need. We can also look for customized stearic acid formulation with differing carbon levels.
